“I was 9 years old when dad passed away. But even in those few years that I spent with him, I saw him as the man who gave everything for his daughter. I loved mangoes and when summer came he would always come home with a box full of them. That’s how loving he was! But in his last 2 years, when he was diagnosed with cancer, he spent most of the time in his bed, resting, but still he always asked about me. And that’s why after he left us, I missed him terribly. Maa started taking care of Dad’s shop. My brothers and I would help her, but we would find ourselves alone,” she said.
“But Dadaji took over and raised me. He knew him as a very strict man that children were afraid to play with. But after Dad, he had softened. He would make sure he studied properly and had everything he needed,” he added.
