The friendship between Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni has been one of the closest ties in Indian cricket for several years. Kohli gave another example of the same on Sunday after India’s Asian Cup tie against Pakistan in Dubai.

In the post-match press conference, Kohli made a shocking revelation and claimed that Dhoni was the only person who texted him after he stepped down from the Test captaincy earlier this year. Kohli explained that a lot of people have his number and were giving their opinions on TV, but they didn’t bother to talk to him about it individually.

Kohli and Dhoni’s friendship has stood the test of time, but Indian fans have known about their incredible bond for several years now. In fact, his camaraderie showed during a charity football match in 2013 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

In that match, Kohli had played a beautiful pass from midfield to assist a Dhoni goal; that he made a superb run and executed a perfect finish in front of goal. Kohli was the captain of a team of Indian cricketers called ‘All Hearts FC’ which also included Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma and other big names. They were up against a team full of Bollywood actors called ‘All Stars FC’ led by Abhishek Bachchan which was made up of Ranbir Kapoor, Leander Paes, Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and a few more stars. The cricketers were coached by Sunil Chhetri while Bhaichung Bhutia took care of the actors.
