Manchester United fans are unhappy that Casemiro has once again been left on the bench for their clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are aiming for their fourth win in a row as they look to continue their good progress under Erik ten Hag. They overcame last club Leicester City in their previous meeting thanks to a Jadon Sancho winner.

Ten Hag has decided to release new signing Antony to the Manchester United squad as he replaces Anthony Elanga on the right flank. The 22-year-old is the host’s only change since his win at King Power Stadium on Thursday night.

The Dutch manager is still resisting the temptation to place Real Madrid legend Casemiro in defensive midfield, with Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen continuing on a dual pivot. The 30-year-old was arguably United’s most high-profile summer signing, having previously won five Champions League winners’ medals with Los Blancos.

However, with McTominay and Eriksen in excellent form, the Brazilian international will have to wait his turn to break into the starting eleven. But some supporters feel he should have been given the go-ahead against an Arsenal team that have won their first five league games.

Following the announcement of the starting lineup, Red Devils fans took to Twitter to express their frustration at not seeing Casemiro on the team sheet:

That Casemiro needs “time to adapt and get in shape” is absurd. It’s like people don’t even watch football outside of England. He left monster performances playing the whole 90’s until the moment he left ? his choice to join these guys I guess!

Wayne Rooney predicts close match between Manchester United and Arsenal

Manchester United’s all-time leading goalscorer has revealed his admiration for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Writing in his column for The Times, the former England captain gave his prediction for the Old Trafford clash between the two old rivals. Rooney stated:

“United have a lot of quality, and if you get the basics right, you give yourself the platform for the quality to come through. That’s what we saw in the wins over Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester City.”

“Against this Arsenal team they will need the intensity they showed in those wins, especially against Liverpool. Your best bet may be to play like my United did in those classic games, pressing aggressively, while hammering Arsenal at half-time.

“If you sit in a mid or low block and are passive against a side that moves the ball as fast and as well as Mikel Arteta’s team does, it’s a recipe for trouble.

“I expect a tense and tough game, a bit like the old days, although maybe not as much action in the tunnel.”
