Sotheby’s is selling three iconic vintage Rolex watches from the collection of Stan Barrett, racing driver turned Hollywood stuntman.
This December, Sotheby’s has the great honor of offering three wines rolex wrist watches collection Stan Barrett – former boxing champion turned Hollywood stuntman and NASCAR driver – who piloted the Budweiser Rocket Car on December 17, 1979 in his quest to become the first man to travel faster than the speed of sound on land.
Now, more than forty years after the monumental campaign, the three clocks, whose provenance dates back to this historic event, will take center stage highlighting Sotheby’s Important Watches auction on December 9 in New York.
The three iconic timepieces will be on display for the first time in Monterey, California from August 17-20 to coincide with RM. Sotheby’s landmark Monterey auction, followed by an international tour with stops in Dubai, Hong Kong, Geneva and Los Angeles. Throughout his action-packed career, Stan Barrett has quietly become a very important philanthropist, first working with New man and his hole in the wall kids, and in recent years, dedicating his time to charitable causes that help the well-being of children. In another nod to her philanthropic efforts, Stan has decided to sell these watches with a portion of the proceeds from the sale to benefit charitable causes.
