Theft of 1 car, baby items and weapon

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – A series of carjackings in Boardman left a family without their vehicle and their children’s belongings that were inside.

Jerrod Cwynar says his sister’s white 2016 Honda Pilot was taken early Tuesday morning with items inside that they needed.

“He had his wallet with his license, his IDs, his cards. Her two-month-old baby, her one-year-old baby, and her six-year-old baby were taken out of the car seat. They took all the baby supplies, the formula, the bottle, all the diapers, the wipes, they took everything with the car,” she said.

Cwynar and his family have been looking for the car, but more importantly, they want to get back what was inside.

“I am more worried that they have taken all the things we need to get the babies out and for her to take care of her children. I’m more worried about the stuff than the car,” she said.

Cwynar said they found a car seat that was dumped on the side of the road on Wednesday. She said that he was sitting in the rain for a few hours. The rest of the material has not been recovered.

Several other vehicles were also broken into on that street Tuesday morning. Boardman police were called to the 7400 block of Rainer Trail around 7 a.m.

When the police arrived, a person told them that his wife went out to look for his Kia and realized that it had been searched. The man told police that he had a gun in the car that was no longer there. They were also missing some Apple airpods and a black backpack from Mercy Health, according to a police report.

The report indicates that shortly afterward, officers spoke with another person who said their Nissan had been broken into. Nothing was missing from his vehicle.

Another resident on that street told police his Ring doorbell caught video of a dome light coming on inside his Hyundai around 4:30 a.m. Nothing was missing from his vehicle.

In the same home as Cwynar and his sister, another man told police his Honda Accord had been broken into and two loaded pistol magazines were missing from the vehicle. The car had been searched.

Cwynar says her sister’s car has some rust spots on the back door, the driver’s side front fog light glass is broken, and there are three decals on the rear window: a Ford performance decal, a race car factory and a bumper sticker in Ohio.
