Why the New York Giants will win the NFC Wild Card

The Vikings aren’t exactly sweeping the final kick here.

Yes, they’ve been able to slow down over the last month, and yes, there’s been a ton of injuries, and yes, they’ve still won three of their last four and five of their last seven.

They were still struggling, and that included the 27-24 fight with the Giants just a few weeks ago.

New York’s offense was buzzing. The passing game went through the porous and hit the secondary, the running game rumbled great and everything worked except having a +2 margin of loss.

The Giants, at least when Daniel Jones is healthy, have started to figure out their passing game a bit with a host of interesting receivers making a bit of noise. Saquon Barkley has been good, the defense has been good, and great on third down, and in general, turnovers aren’t the killers for them like they are for most teams.

On the other hand, the porous Viking defense has to draw conclusions. The team is 12-1 when it comes up with one and 1-3 when it doesn’t. That is. That is the margin of this high-flying team.

The Giants have gone seven games this year without a turnover. That’s fine, but…

Why will the Minnesota Vikings win the NFC Wild Card?

The Giants better bring the points.

It’s a good New York offense that is able to keep things moving, speeds up first downs, and can roll a variety of ways. He doesn’t throw many interceptions and the running game has been great, but that hasn’t always translated into points.

This went from being a “find a way” team to not being able to keep up. The O was able to put up 38 in Indianapolis a few weeks ago, and that was the only time he was able to top 27 points all year.

They’re not going to fill up, especially against this Viking defense, and they’ll bring at least 20 to the table, but that’s not going to work if Minnesota’s offense gets going.

After the last few weeks of difficult times, the Vikings have to get up fast. They have to get Justin Jefferson involved more no matter what, Dalvin Cook has to be good on the first downs and overall things have to mesh a little better. They can’t let the Giants take over the opening narrative.

The Giants’ defensive front will give up rushing yards, and Minnesota has to take them immediately.

Rally New York. Jones has the skill and the weapons to do it, but it’s going to take at least 24 to pull it off because…

What will happen, who will win New York Giants vs Minnesota Vikings NFC Wild Card

You can’t beat Minnesota if you can’t get at least three touchdowns.

The Giants care a little more about control, keeping the defense off the field, running around and making the necessary big plays in the fourth quarter.

Minnesota is all over the map, but…

It is 12-0 when 24 or more points are scored, and 2-4 when fewer are scored. The Giants have scored 24-plus points just twice all year, against Indianapolis and Green Bay, and who doesn’t?

New York has to dictate everything, but the Vikings will blow it with two big plays in the first quarter. He’s been missing all year, a very, very good start.

How many times have you scored more than seven points in the first quarter? Never. They have not done it.

They will this time, the Giants will fight to make it interesting, but a big downfield shot (Justin Jefferson will get loose) will finally open it up a bit.

It won’t take a field goal to get the Vikings out of this, but they will sweat.
