A new Need For Speed racing game is about to start its engine. NFS Unbound combines familiar features with a spectacular and bold set of graphic elements. The “most realistic-looking cars in franchise history” are combined with overt aspects of street art to help Need For Speed stand out.
Like most other titles in this segment, the campaign mode sees players starting out with few resources as they try to make their way around the street racing scene. The defining triggering event includes a robbery at a family-owned auto shop that includes a priceless stolen car. Despite that similarity to previous titles, NFS Unbound promises to have its own attributes.
Risk-taking and self-expression are key components and EA says that, for the first time in an NFS game, “real consequences with shocking risks and rewards for every run, decision and side bet made.” Players will also need to decide how to manage their own in-game notoriety. As they build up “heat” around the city, the rewards for evading the police and the consequences for getting caught increase.
