If you’ve opened your Netflix app at any point in the past few days, you’ve probably seen the streamer recommend the new Kevin Hart/Mark Wahlberg comedy. Personal time for you, either in your row of suggested titles to watch or in the featured content carousel at the top of the app. The movie is as silly and forgettable as it gets, and it’s basically about a loving father (Hart) reconnecting with his once wild best friend (Wahlberg).
Having said this, Personal time it’s still crushing it right now on the platform. It is the #1 English-language movie on Netflix worldwide, based on Netflix Top 10 weekly data. But that milestone is definitely it’s not a byproduct of overwhelming love from fans or critics. In fact, you often see a huge divergence between critics and fans about a movie like this. Even so, they actually both agree when it comes to Personal time. As in, hardly anyone seems to like this movie.

While they are an incomplete standard for judging this kind of thing, the Rotten Tomatoes get scores for Personal time however, give us at least an idea of the sentiment that critics and fans have around him.
The critics’ overall score, for example? That’s an embarrassingly bad 7%. That’s based on 59 reviews, like this one from Empire magazine that says in part:Personal time takes an interesting family dynamic and hides it under crude jokes and hackneyed stunts.”
Viewer sentiment tells a similar story. The Rotten Tomatoes audience score for Personal time it’s an equally terrible 29%, based on over 500 user ratings at the time of this writing. Once again, this is Netflix’s #1 movie. in the world what we’re talking about right now.

At the moment, those scores mean that Personal time appears to have earned both Hart and Wahlberg the lowest Rotten Tomatoes scores of their careers thus far. Again, quite a strange result for the biggest Netflix movie in the world right now.
Does this matter in the grand scheme of things? After all, we’re talking about a streaming release, which is to say its success doesn’t live or die on ticket sales. Personal time It may indeed be a terrible movie, but a lot of people saw it anyway.
Personally, I’ve been burned out far too many times than I’d like, after taking the plunge and trying out a big, animated new Netflix movie only to feel like it was a complete waste of time once I finished it. Meaning: There are so many times as a viewer that you will submit to that.
