It seems that the relationship between Jason Bateman and Netflix will continue to be fruitful. The popular series is coming to an end. Ozarks which concluded its four-season run earlier this spring. And now she’s teaming up with another star for what could be a pretty solid new movie. Deadline Is Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton to Star Continue for the streamer and from the looks of it, it’s going to be a thriller from start to finish. There are already a few other names attached and this could be a solid addition to the streamer that continues to produce high-quality, fan-engaging content built around proven stars.
From the first loglines, it seems that Continue takes its name from the shape of the luggage that goes on the planes. That’s because Jason Bateman will play a mystery traveler who blackmails a TSA agent (played by Taron Egerton) into letting a package through security. What unfolds next isn’t entirely clear, but staying in the thriller genre should make this play out in a tense way between the two characters and the larger environment of the airport and airline in general. While Jason Bateman’s career isn’t exactly synonymous with villain type, that has started to change with his most recent work on Ozarks.
That’s because in Ozarks Jason Bateman played Marty Byrd, one half of the Byrd couple who formed helping to launder money for the Mexican drug cartel. While Bateman’s character was, in many ways, easy to support, there was no question that his character had a number of evil and emotionless traits (all business) that allowed him to do business in this way. It was a masterful performance and we got to see some of the steely demeanor that comes through in his dealings with Taron Egerton’s character. There’s a good chance we’ll have a hit on our hands with this one.
Also on board with Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton in Continue It will be director Jaume Collet-Serra who has some experience with these tense and tense movies in the past. He has directed movies like Without scales (some more airplane work) as well as Run all night, the traveler, and even The shallows. He is also directing what will be one of next summer’s blockbusters with black adam in Dwayne Johnson’s introduction to the DC Extended Universe.
As for Taron Egerton, this will be his first time working with Jason Bateman and coming off the miniseries. black bird which was developed by Dennis Lehane and also starred Paul Walter Hauser, Greg Kinnear, and the late Ray Liotta, among others. It also has the live-action adaptation of tetris lowering the pike too.
As well as signing big names like Jason Bateman, Taron Egerton and Jaume Collet-Serra, this will be the first film in the new partnership between Netflix and Amblin Entertainment. The plan is for the film to hit streaming sometime next year and development will likely begin sooner rather than later now that the leads are cast.
