iRacing’s first electric car will arrive in Season 4 – Porsche Mission R

The Porsche Mission R concept car is coming to iRacing in the Season 4 content update scheduled for September 7.

iRacing and Porsche announced on Thursday (September 1, 2022) that the all-electric Porsche Mission R concept car will join the iRacing service next week. This will be iRacing’s first foray into all-electric car racing, as the concept car will be part of iRacing’s Season 4 2022 content update.

Porsche’s Mission R concept car is particularly cool for those of us in the sim racing sphere. About a year ago, we reported on the car’s unveiling, which wouldn’t normally be something to cover on a racing game and esports website like Traxion.GG.

However, the reason we did it was because the Mission R concept car’s cockpit is made to function as a racing simulation platform. It is a truly unique aspect where the car can be raced in the real world and then used for sim racing and sport racing activities with the “monocoque type autonomous driver cell” that can be used outside the car . as your own simulator.

The car itself has two electric motors that generate more than 800 kilowatts of power, allowing it to reach 60 mph in less than two and a half seconds. This Porsche Mission R can also recharge 75 percent of the battery in just 15 minutes. It is a truly unique and exciting futuristic concept of a car.

We have seen this car in sim racing before, most notably through the upcoming RENNSPORT title that Tom was able to take part in earlier this year in June. While RENNSPORT had the car first, iRacing will have it available for public consumption first when it comes out next week.

Unlike the Rudskogen Motorsenter that was announced a few days ago as base content for iRacing (meaning it’s free with a subscription), this Porsche Mission R concept car will be available to buy, likely at the usual price of $11.95 USD, starting of September 7. .

The car will be part of the Season 3 Week 13 playlist for iRacers to test, and then in 2022 Season 4, it will have its own official Mission R Challenge series to take part in. It will be interesting to watch as well to see if this car is used in the official Porsche esports series on iRacing in the future, primarily the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports SuperCup or any of the previous qualifying series.
