It’s Friday night and you know what that means: there’s high school football all over the state.
We’re in the third week of Iowa high school football action, and the first two bring with them a lot of drama. Last week saw the drop of some ranked teams, notably former No. 5 Urbandale dropped out of the rankings after a 24-7 loss to Johnston. No. 2 Ankeny got a scare for the second week in a row, but was able to outlast Centennial 17-10. Perhaps the most notable action from last week was Mount Vernon snapping its 19-game losing streak against Solon with a 17-14 win over the Spartans.
Week 3 looks set to feature more great action, with No. 3 Ankeny taking on No. 4 Dowling Catholic as one of many highlights across the state. Here are some links to get you up to speed on everything you need to know before the third game of the season.
