The 2022 National Primary School Football Championship has been successfully completed at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
Njeru-based Rays of Grace won the tournament dubbed “Odilo”.
In the final game, Rays of Grace beat Agago District’s Paorihner Primary School 5-4 on penalties after regulation time ended scoreless.


After a slow start when they fell 0-2 to Bright View in the opening game, the Rays of Grace quickly recovered to win their subsequent two games and reach the semi-final.
Nicholas Kawooya and Hakim Osama got it right when they beat North East’s Vision for Children 2-0.
In their final group stage match, Rays of Grace doomed Nansana Modern from the Kampala region 3-0.
Amos Molu, Osama and Collin Talemwa were on target.




In the semi-final clash, Rays of Grace easily beat Kibuli Islamic 3-0 with Kawooya, Isaac Asindu and Douglas Kikomeko on target for the team led by Michael Kabali and Richard Kamanzi.
“We have had a good platform for young people to showcase their talents and I want to thank FUFA for this initiative. I also want to thank my players for showing character and composure throughout the tournament. It wasn’t easy for us to win, but the determination to keep pushing helped us.” Kamanzi revealed as quoted by the FUFA news portal.


Individual Awards:
Rays of Grace’s Nicholas Kawooya was the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Sudais Abdulrahman, also from Rays of Grace was the best goalkeeper.
With five goals to his name, Paorihner Elementary School’s Joseph Langol was the tournament’s top scorer.
During third place, Bright View edged out Kibuli Islamic 2-0.






Qualifying matches:
Winners Academy (Kitara region) beat Nansana Modern (Kampala region) 2-1 by 5the/6the place
Northeast Region Vision for Children outscored Prime View (East Region) 1-0 in the 7the/8the play off.
Nansana Modern won the spirit of fair play award.
In the female category, the Bombo UMEA champions prevailed in the female category at the expense of the Habanom Academy.
Four teams; Rays of Grace and Paorihner (Boys), as well as Rays of Grace and Paorihner Primary School, will represent Uganda at the 2022 East African Games (FEASSSA) in Arusha.
