Google the word Zenvo and you’ll get multiple variations of the same sentence, all including the word “underrated.” It seems that, for the first time, industry insiders and gear enthusiasts agree that the market undervalues rather than overvalues a car brand. In an age of hype, when every other ad campaign promises you “the best,” it’s refreshing to find a brand that stands out for its distinctive traits and attributes rather than its image or marketing efforts.
Zenvo is Danish hypercar manufacturer that designs and manufactures high-performance vehicles. The luxury carmaker gained popularity after Top Gear gave a negative review of the Zenvo ST1 supercar. Since 2014, the company has regrouped and invested heavily in research and development, only to release even more impressive, high-performance cars. But instead of bragging about the success and qualities of their cars, Zenvo worked quietly, letting their vehicles do the talking. This strategy worked wonderfully, as the entire auto industry is eagerly awaiting the new hybrid hypercar with a V12 powertrain.
Zenvo makes only five cars per year
If you want to be in the luxury business and cater to the royal 0.1 percent, you need to prioritize exclusivity. Zenvo understands that and keeps production incredibly low. That means if you’re lucky enough and rich enough to buy a Zenvo car, there’s a very small chance you’ll run into someone else in the club driving the same car.
According to Robb Report, Zenvo makes just five cars a year at its production site in Denmark, with each unit being handcrafted and customized according to customer needs and wants. Just to put things in perspective, Automobili Pininfarina has announced that it will build 150 units of the all-electric Battista hyper GT. Meanwhile, Pagani builds 30 units of the Pagani Huayra Roadster per year. Furthermore, Koenigsegg intends to build thousands of hypercars each year, while it currently builds about a dozen cars a year. It goes without saying that Zenvo goes against the grain and prefers to be known more for quality than quantity.
Zenvo learned from its mistakes and came up with an improved offering
In 2014, Zenvo’s reputation took a hit when Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson reviewed the Zenvo ST1. During testing, just about everything that could go wrong did, and the supercar subsequently failed to impress the Top Gear team. The hypercar broke down not once, but twice. Also, the rear brakes weren’t working properly, and worse, the hypercar caught fire on the track.
It didn’t take long for Zenvo to come up with a lengthy response blaming everything from “extreme drift” to bad weather to “high speed tests” for all misfortunes. Naturally, Zenvo’s response to the controversy didn’t impress the affluent, so the Danish hypercar maker went back to its facilities and worked tirelessly to improve its cars. Over the past eight years, Zenvo has successfully repaired its damaged reputation and attracted a new influx of wealthy customers.
Zenvo builds an ultralight hypercar
Zenvo is currently developing an ultralight hybrid hypercar, with a powerful motor and batteries. Zenvo pairs the motor with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the motor will be capable of generating 1,200 horsepower independently or 1,800 horsepower with the batteries on. The V12 hybrid hypercar is rumored to hit the market in 2023.
Zenvo manufactures many of the auto parts in-house

“The only way to achieve total quality control is to manufacture the components ourselves. It is also part of what makes Zenvo unique,” Troels Vollertsen, founder of Zenvo Automotive, told Robb Report. “Our splintered carbon fiber wheels, for example, are stronger than alloy wheels, but weigh almost half as much. [around 17 lbs]. Each one has 550 layered pieces by hand and takes two weeks for an artisan to create.”
Zenvo cars are incredibly powerful
If you buy a hypercar, you expect it to be powerful and fast. Fortunately, Zenvo doesn’t disappoint, though Vollertsen says the company isn’t “going for high speeds” and prefers to build supercars that are “responsive and fun to drive.” However, the TSR-S remains “a pure and simple race car that is not road legal.”
It’s worth noting that the TSR-S has a 5.8-liter flat V8 engine with twin centrifugal superchargers and sequential fuel injection that puts out a staggering 1,177 horsepower. This crazy hypercar accelerates from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 202 miles per hour. On the other hand, the TS1 GT has a flat 5.8-liter V8 engine under the hood. This supercar accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3 seconds and has a top speed of 233 miles per hour.
