Get Ready for the 2022 UTSA Football Season Opener with Pre-Game Festivities

SEPTEMBER 1, 2022 — UTSA has released the following information for fans planning to attend the Roadrunners’ season-opening football game against No. 24 Houston on Saturday, September 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 pm at the Alamodome and the game will air on CBS Sports Network and Ticket 760 AM.


UTSA will host the first conference championship in football program history before Saturday’s season opener against No. 24 Houston at the Alamodome. Fans are encouraged to arrive and be in their seats early as a banner honoring the 2021 Conference USA Champion Roadrunners will be featured in the rafters before the 2:30 p.m. kickoff.


Located at HEB Plaza and VIA Bridge on the north side of the Alamodome, Rowdy Town opens at 11:30 am and is completely free for all UTSA fans to partake in for pre-game festivities including:

  • HEB Tailgate exhibit with games and food samples from their culinary chefs
  • UT Health San Antonio Interactive Games
  • inflatable obstacle course for kids
  • Other interactive displays from UTSA sponsors
  • SAVOR beverage stand
  • Live music

Fans are invited to a free live concert by The Spazmatics, an ’80s cover band performing at Rowdy Town from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

The first hour of the Credit Human Pregame radio show with Andy Everett will air live on Ticket 760 AM from Rowdy Town beginning at 12:30 pm UTSA Athletics Director Lisa Campos will be a guest on the show at 1 pm

The Spirit Walk will be held at 12:30 pm weather permitting. Join UTSA Head Football Coach Jeff Traylor and the entire team as they walk to the Alamodome two hours before kickoff. The UTSA band and cheerleaders line the catwalk between Alamodome parking lots B and C as Rowdy leads the team down Roadrunner Alley toward the stadium.

Fans can shop for the latest UTSA apparel and accessories at the Rowdy Campus store, which will be set up in Lot B near Roadrunner Alley. Merchandise counters are also located inside the Alamodome in the Plaza level lobbies near sections 106 and 118.

The UTSA Student Inside Gate is the gathering place for UTSA students inside the Alamodome on game day. There will be free food and drink (while supplies last). Door prizes may be offered. The UTSA student interior gate is open from 1-2:30 p.m. .

Hines neighborhoodformer NFL star and head coach of San Antonio’s new XFL team, will be recognized during the game.


The first 15,000 fans to enter the Alamodome on Saturday will receive a free Rowdy towel to help show their support for the Roadrunners.

All students currently enrolled at UTSA are eligible for free admission to all home football games. UTSA students may purchase up to four guest tickets for the student section.

For walk-in sales, the Southwest Alamodome Box Office will open at 10 am on Saturday and all other Alamodome Box Offices will open at noon. The customer service windows are located at the Northeast and Southeast ticket offices.


Alamodome’s clear bag policy is in effect throughout the season.


A large crowd is expected on Saturday and with fewer staff available on game day, we ask for your patience with the potential long lines to enter the Alamodome and at the concession stands.

  • If possible, get into the stadium early to avoid long lines. Doors open to the public at 1:00 p.m.
  • High-speed lanes will be available at security checkpoints for those without luggage. Have your keys, phone and wallet ready before you get to the scanners.
  • Pull out your tickets or upload them to your phone with screen brightness turned up before you get to the gates.
  • Mobile food ordering is available from your seat with pickup service available at express windows.


Student seats are general admission within Sections 122-131. To accommodate increased student attendance, Sections 220-226 on the Club Level will be open for general admission student seating. The Spirit of San Antonio band will occupy Sections 127-128.


Parking in Lots A, B and C of the Alamodome is limited to fans who already have permits purchased. A limited number of handicapped parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Alamodome Lots A, B and C will open at 8 am for those with valid parking passes. DO NOT enter the lots before 8am or staff will ask you to vacate your spot(s) and re-enter once the lots are open. There are several paid public parking garages in the immediate vicinity of the Alamodome.

The drop-off and pick-up location for carpool users is located in Parking Lot D next to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center at the corner of Montana Street and Tower of Americas Way.


VIA has announced that it will serve UTSA’s home football games. VIA’s Park & ​​Ride service is convenient and affordable with round trips to the Alamodome for just $2.60. Service for all UTSA home games will be provided from Crossroads Park & ​​Ride, beginning three hours before game time, with return service running for one hour after each game.

The Park & ​​Ride fare is $1.30 each way with discounted fares available for children, seniors, students, and active duty military. Purchase tickets in advance on VIA’s goMobile+ app, available for free download on Apple and Android devices. Cash and credit cards are accepted on game day at the Crossroads Park & ​​Ride location.

UTSA students can use their U-Pass for game service. VIAtrans customers and children under the age of 5 ride for free. VIA bus passes are not valid for this service. VIA 1-Day Pass, 7-Day Pass and 31-Day Pass are valid for Special Event Service.


Students and their guests can park on the UTSA main campus and take a UTSA shuttle to the game at the North Paseo bus loop, right outside the North Paseo building. The shuttle will begin running to the Alamodome at 11:30 am The last shuttle to the game will depart from campus at 2 pm Students will be dropped off and picked up at the Robert Thompson Transit Station at the Alamodome. Buses will begin service back to UTSA at the start of the fourth quarter with the last Alamodome shuttle bus departing one hour after the end of the game.


Saturday’s game will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network. The contest will air live on Ticket 760 AM in the San Antonio area and on channel 983 of the SiriusXM app. The pregame program will begin at 12:30 pm and there will be a 45-minute postgame program.
