With Auburn football season just days away, it’s always fun to throw out some bold predictions to see if they come to pass over the course of the college football season.
The Auburn Tigers have a roster with a lot of questions, but room for a lot of upsides with several players who could stand out.
Here are some bold predictions for Auburn football this year.
TJ Finley starts all 12 games
I said this on my podcast, Locked On Auburn, and was met by some frustrated fans. Some admit it could be a possibility and give up on the idea, while others said Finley would start the year and ultimately lose the job to Robby Ashford or Zach Calzada.
After naming Finley as the starter, this coaching staff isn’t going to want to take him out. If Finely is pulled, it means something bad has happened.
Tar’varish Dawson leads Auburn in goals and receptions
Last year, Kobe Hudson led the Tigers in goals and receptions. After transferring to UCF, Dawson is next in line at the same position at wide receiver. We’ve heard nothing but high praise for Dawson from the coaching staff. He could be primed to explode in 2022.
John Samuel Shenker leads Auburn in touchdown receptions
The veteran tight end had no touchdown receptions in 2021, while Hudson and Demetris Robertson tied for the team lead with four. Shenker has a chance to make a big step forward this season in the passing game, even after setting records for Auburn’s tight ends a season ago.
Cam Riley leads Auburn in tackles
A lot of attention is rightfully on Owen Pappoe, but I think the way the defensive coaching staff is going to use Riley is near the line of scrimmage where he can use his size to get in touch with interior linemen and chase running backs near the ball. line. . This is a recipe for tackles, tackles and more tackles. We’ve seen Zakoby McClain succeed in the role of him, Riley is the next man.
Eku Leota leads Auburn in sacks
Auburn’s defense has several elite pass-rushers on this team like Derick Hall and Colby Wooden. With opposing offenses focusing on Hall and Wooden, SEC quarterbacks will feel Leota’s impact constantly.
I also predict Leota to finish in the top three in the SEC in sacks.
