Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) – Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi hoped that the development of Denpasar’s Sanur port would be a good reason for vacationers in Bali province to extend their stay.
“Until now, we know that South Bali and Ubud (are quite lively), but some (areas) still lack that aspect. However, with the construction of this port, massive tourism development is expected in Nusa Penida and Nusa Ceningan, so tourists increase their vacation stay by at least one day,” he said in Denpasar on Friday.
The minister noted that the construction of Sanur Port, followed by Nusa Penida’s Sampalan Port and Nusa Ceningan’s Bias Munjul Port, is projected to increase the stay of snorkeling tourists by up to a week.
The Minister of Transportation assessed that the construction of three new docks on the “Island of the Gods” will increase the number of destinations with better quality, where before tourists wishing to cross were served only by simple boats.
“In the past, tourists were served by the available dockless boats. Of course, they could not bring tourists in terms of quality or quantity. By building good quality ports in Sanur, Nusa Penida and Nusa Ceningan, we hope that in terms of the quality, the level of tourists improves”, he affirmed.
In addition to pleasing tourists, the minister noted that Sanur Port, Sampalan Port and Bias Munjul Port had the potential to provide opportunities for investors and the public to develop business when the number of tourists increases.
“We will build several restaurants with Balinese (theme). It is not only to satisfy the (palate) of tourists, but (also) for us to get money. If we get money, then this facility can be managed properly, and we can subsidize it.” , he claimed.
Work to build the Sanur port is 96 percent complete.

Bali Governor Wayan Koster said the port will open at the end of October 2022.
“I think it can be finished at the end of October, so that the minister informs the president if it can be inaugurated by the president at the end of October because he will visit Bali at the end of the month,” he said. .
In addition to tourists, the port connecting Sanur with Nusa Penida and Nusa Ceningan will improve the quality of transportation services for local people, especially those seeking to perform traditional prayers and ceremonies, he said.
He pointed out that the construction of the port was financed by the state budget, for a total of Rp563 billion.
This port is expected to promote economic growth with various local entrepreneurs, so that the community can be empowered and the city of Denpasar gets additional regional income (PHD), it added.
