No. 1 Georgia sailing at halftime

Anyone who had Georgia on guard pesky — and few did — probably could have taken it off after the first few drives. The Bulldogs clearly came to play, including Stetson Bennett, who is battling some kind of illness because he has been seen throwing up on the bench. Throwing the ball, however, he has amassed 166 yards and a touchdown, and also leads the team with 25 rushing yards.

South Carolina’s offense hasn’t been able to do anything, rushing for only 40 yards, and the best passing play was a fake punt by punter Kai Kroeger.

Gamecocks don’t capitalize on fake punt pass

South Carolina not only converted a fake punt against No. 1 Georgia, it looked like it was going to keep the punt team on the field: Kai Kroeger completed a 20-yard field pass to Traevon Kenion, and then Kroeger he stayed on the field, signaling as if the Gamecocks were going back to the line and running another quick play. It was as if he was executing a two-minute offense.

Maybe that was the original plan, maybe to try to force Georgia to call a timeout, or maybe even run another play on Kroeger: He’s now 3-for-3 as a passer for South Carolina. But Shane Beamer motioned for the punt team to get out.

Maybe they should have stayed — the Gamecocks didn’t capitalize on the sudden momentum and gave up the ball on opportunities.

Bulldogs keep rolling in South Carolina

Georgia’s offense is rocking and rolling during the first two series against South Carolina. The Bulldogs have seven first downs and 125 yards as they have built a 14-0 lead.

Stetson Bennett has completed 5 of 6 passes for 74 yards, including a touchdown pass to Brock Bowers. Bennett also has two carries for 24 yards while the Bulldogs’ running game has 51 yards on nine carries.

South Carolina had an impressive drive, but quarterback Spencer Rattler threw an interception that was intercepted by real Georgia freshman Malaki Starks, who had a nice comeback to set up Georgia’s second touchdown, a short run. by Kendall Milton.
