New flight routes from Canada to Cuba On Swoop
The main expansion of Swoop’s flight schedule is direct services between Toronto Pearson Airport and Varadero, Cuba, which has been a favorite vacation destination for Canadian travelers for decades.
“We are delighted to announce an expansion into the Caribbean, adding Varadero to our growing list of vacation destinations. Cuba is at the top of the list for Ontarians looking for an affordable beach getaway and we are proud to reaffirm our commitment to the region with more convenient, ultra-low rates,” said Tia McGrath, Swoop sales and distribution leader following the announcement.

Other airlines such as Air Transat and Air Canada have already established flight services to Varadero, and now Swoop will join the mix of Canadian airlines offering direct flight services to Cuba.
Swoop is WestJet’s low-cost subsidiary airline, based in Hamilton, Ontario. The airline’s base in southern Ontario means that major international flights depart from nearby London, Hamilton and Toronto airports.
“We are delighted to welcome Swoop flights to Cuba, we are excited about this new partnership that means more capacity for Cuba from Canada,” announced Lessner Gómez, Director of the Cuban Tourism Office.
“In this price-sensitive market, Swoop’s ultra-low cost structure will make it easier for Canadians to enjoy beautiful Cuba this winter,” he continued.
The launch of the new service of seasonal flights from Toronto (YYZ) to Varadero (VRA) is scheduled for January 11, 2023, with flight prices starting at $189 CAD one way.
