Breaking It Down: It’s not a question of if, but when, Verstappen wins the F1 title

Any remaining doubts in the battle for the Formula 1 championships for 2022 were dispelled on Sunday.

Max Verstappen, who started 15th on the grid due to engine change penalties, didn’t so much run ahead of the rest of the grid but completely ignored his existence en route to his tenth win of the season.

It took the Dutch driver 15 laps to take the race lead, and although the tire change sequence meant he was still considered second-best at the time, he handed the lead back in a pit stop and on lap 18 passed to Carlos Sainz to take over the front definitively.
