After completely decimating the video rental industry, Netflix is giving it a new life with the debut of Blockbuster. A comedy series set in the last Blockbuster Video store in operation, Blockbuster features a cast led by Randall Park Y melissa smoker while overseeing the struggling Blockbuster Video store in Bend, Oregon. Timmy Yoon (Park) is an analog dreamer in a 5G world. He spent his entire adult life dedicated to his first love, movies, a passion that has kept him in his first and only job, running Blockbuster Video, his hometown. Timmy is then alarmed to learn that his store is officially the last Blockbuster in America. He now has no choice but to take steps to stay open and keep the friends employed by him. Timmy and his staff quickly realize that being the home of the latest Blockbuster could be exactly what his community needs to rekindle the human connections they’ve lost in the digital age. It also unexpectedly reunites him with his longtime crush Eliza (Fumero), who recently returned to work for him. Will this battle to preserve the past be the push Timmy needs to enter the present? Vanessa Ramos (Hypermarket, brooklyn nine nine) created Blockbuster and serves as writer and showrunner. Ramos was also an executive producer with Jackie Clarke, David Caspe and John David & John Fox for Davis Entertainment.
