Big Machine Racing fields the No. 48 car in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and it has been a roller coaster ride for the organization as they are currently in their second year of existence.
However, the future of the organization in NASCAR is really bright as they prepare for the 2023 season.
Big Machine Racing Owner Discusses Organization’s Future
NASCAR has seen many new teams in recent years, including Trackhouse Racing, 23XI Racing and Sam Hunt Racing. Although those teams have gained notable traction, Big Machine Racing should be added to the list.
Jade Burford was the driver of the No. 48 car before she was removed and replaced by a plethora of drivers, including Tyler Reddick, Ross Chastain, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kaz Grala and more.
The car’s performance has improved dramatically in recent months and it was even in victory lane at Texas Motor Speedway when Tyler Reddick took home the win.
However, this is not the ideal situation for team owner Scott Borchetta when it comes to the future of Big Machine Racing.

While having an “All-Star” entry would be good for the owners standings at the end of the season, it’s understandable why Borchetta would like to have a full-time driver in the car moving forward. It’s hard for an organization not to have consistency every week.
Also, based on your feedback, it sounds like the next driver of the No. 48 car will be someone you didn’t expect when this process began.
“The different drivers that have contacted me are the ones I didn’t expect and that makes it really exciting. “We have had excellent conversations in the last two weeks. There are definitely a couple of guys who are raising their hands to take a chance on the car.”

It looks like Big Machine Racing will have an attention grabbing driver for the 2023 season. This should be the case as the vehicle is a race winning team, as stated above. There are reasons to be excited about the future.
The process may not take as long as teams look to complete their rosters for the 2023 season and beyond. A quality ride in the series could fill up soon.

It’s almost September and NASCAR’s silly season will be kicking off soon everywhere. Kyle Busch is still waiting for a new home while most of the silly season is left on the Xfinity Series.

There is a possibility that Big Machine Racing will feature a second entry alongside the full-time ride. Who could drive the car? Well, what about Borchetta himself?
“It’s going to happen. I don’t know when, but there will be a road race that I’m showing up for…it’s on the wish list.”

Borchetta won’t be a full-time driver, obviously, but the idea of racing on a road course appealed to him. The idea of running an oval track was not because he doesn’t have a lot of experience in that area.
However, there will be a few options available to Big Machine Racing as they look to finalize their plans.
NASCAR: Potential Options for Big Machine Racing in 2023
There will be plenty of options available to Big Machine Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and it will be hard for the organization to really lose.
One option that could be intriguing is Ty Dillon, who is very positive about his future in NASCAR. Dillon drove the No. 48 car to a sixth-place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in his only start this season.
Big Machine Racing is close to Richard Childress Racing, so it makes perfect sense for the 30-year-old to walk through their doors. However, his options are not limited.
Trevor Bayne would be another good fit, as he has driven in select races for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Xfinity Series over the course of the 2022 season. Bayne has four top-5 and five top-10 finishes in six starts.
Coincidentally, Bayne was born in Tennessee, while Big Machine Record is also based there. Borchetta is the CEO of the company. It could be a way for them to connect through careers.
If not Dillon or Bayne, Nick Sanchez could be a really intriguing option for the organization as it looks to rise through the NASCAR ranks. Sánchez has three wins and leads the standings in the ARCA Menards Series.
Additionally, Sanchez signed a four-race deal with Big Machine Racing through the 2022 season. It would be a great way for the Chevrolet-backed driver to move up the ranks and join a good team.
No matter what happens over the next month when it comes to the process of NASCAR’s silly season, Big Machine Racing should land a driver to further elevate the performance of the No. 48 car.
