We have all been there. We’re invited to a wedding we can’t walk away from with a guest list filled with some people we’d rather never see again. That’s exactly the vibe laid out in a new batch of photos for Prime Video. The people we hate at the weddingwhich features a star-studded cast including Ben Platt, kristen bellY allison-janey.
Adapted from big gingerThe 2016 novel of the same name, The people we hate at the wedding will tell the story of Paul (Platt) and Alice (Bell), two siblings who, despite their better judgment, agree to attend their estranged half-sister’s wedding. To make matters worse for the duo, they are both less than satisfied with their lives and struggling financially, while her half-sister apparently thrives on more money than she knows what to do with. As they make their way to a destination wedding somewhere in the English countryside, the duo will do so alongside their mother, Donna (Janney).
The first images reveal mixed emotions as wedding bells ring. In one, we can see Bell and Platt’s characters looking unsure as Janney stands in the middle, pushing them away. There is also a shot of a character played by Dustin Milligan (Schitt’s Cove) shaking hands with Alice de Bell on a plane, perhaps sparking a cute encounter between the two? In their perfect comedic ways, we also see Paul and Alice raising a glass in a toast with Alice rolling her eyes at her brother.
The bridal party is the focal point in another shot when a group of women led by Cynthia Addai-Robinson‘s (Spartacus) wears brightly colored dresses and strolls down a very European looking street with Alice climbing into the caboose and drinking a bottle of champagne, who hasn’t been there? Finally, there’s a photo of presumably the two families the married couple will join, looking horrified at something that just came out of frame, probably Alice drinking another bottle of champagne.
