It’s week 8 of the regular season in Akron area high school football and the big game on Friday night is Akron’s “Holy War.”
Undefeated, top-ranked Archbishop Hoban will make the trek across town to arch-rival No. 5 St. Vincent-St. Mary with the coveted Shillelagh trophy back on the line. The Shillelagh has resided in Hoban for the better part of a decade and the red-hot Irish would love nothing more than to return it to Green Street.

We’ll also report from Walsh Jesuit, where the No. 4 Warriors hosted Mentor Lake Catholic.
