7 Renovations and Closures Happening Right Now at Universal Orlando Resort (September 2022)

It is important that guests visiting Universal Orlando Resort know which rides and attractions are closed for renovations or other reasons to avoid disappointment. It can be hard to keep up with changing schedules, so we’re compiling the current list of renovations planned for Universal Orlando Resort throughout August and beyond.

There was some very positive news on August 30, when Revenge of the Mummy finally began its soft opening. We also hear that Universal has now removed Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida from the redevelopment schedule for the foreseeable future. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit was due to close for a brief refurbishment on August 21-25, 2022. There have been no further official plans for when this scheduled routine maintenance will take place.

In this month’s update, we see that a long-closed attraction is closing again and a popular kids’ ride is scheduled for an October makeover. We include dates where possible, but they are subject to change. We will keep you informed of any changes in our news and Facebook page.

Universal has not confirmed why. of this shutdown, but we’re assuming since it’s only for a short time, it’s probably for scheduled maintenance.

Universal has confirmed in its official calendar that the popular children’s ride, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish will be closed for maintenance between October 24 and 26, 2022. One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish take Dumbo’s hit The Flying Elephant, add squirting fish, and then introduce a song that explains how to avoid those squirts (“Red fish up, blue fish down,” etc.) and you’ve got one hell of a family outing. Beware: some children may disobey the song on purpose!
