Of course yes. In fact, I would venture that you are the type of person who enjoys the adrenaline rush that comes from watching a really good horror movie. To indirectly explore the darkness. Or maybe even a truly novel experience, traversing a post-apocalyptic landscape, perhaps, or running from a masked killer, without ever putting yourself in harm’s way. Because, let’s face it, it’s a great way to test our survival skills from the comfort of our own couches.

This folk horror sees a couple do exactly what every Hallmark movie tells us to do: ditch their urban existence for the tranquility of rural Ireland. Unfortunately, however, they soon begin to hear stories of mysterious creatures that live in the ancient, twisted forests at the foot of their garden, and… yes, you get the picture.

And when he returns… well, spoilers.

Starring Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult, this horror comedy follows Dracula’s henchman Renfield as he dreams of a life that doesn’t involve serving his dark master.

rise of the wicked dead
Traditionally, the Evil Dead Movies always feature two things: Bruce Campbell and a cabin in the woods. This time, however, the film takes the action to the city as it tells the twisted tale of two estranged sisters whose reunion is interrupted by the rise of flesh-possessing demons. Faced with the most terrifying version of family imaginable, they find themselves embroiled in a paramount battle for survival…but will they be dead by dawn?

Can you believe this is the fifth in the Insidious franchise? It begins happily, as Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) heads east to drop off his son, Dalton (Ty Simpkins), at school. However, Dalton’s college dream soon turns into a living nightmare when repressed demons from his past suddenly return to haunt them both.

The strangers
As in, yes, a remake of the 2008 horror that gave us all nightmares. According to the official synopsis, the new version centers “on a couple (Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez) who drive cross-country to start a new life in the Pacific Northwest. When their car breaks down in Venus, Oregon, they are forced to spend the night in an isolated Airbnb, where they are terrorized from dusk to dawn by three masked strangers.
