I have always used a good carnauba paste wax not what you find at Wal-mart. I use a Flint wax which the pro's use. It gives ot the best protection on oxidation and fall out. Enhances the that wet look and is slick to the touch. For waxing a car I like a good hand job myself (someone is going to take that out context)
If you can afford it here is the best wax money can buy: http://www.amazon.com/Zymol-12001-Ro.../dp/B000F3K0T8

) but preferring the use of a good Carnauba wax. What are the benefits of this type of wax and how is it different from a synthetic wax that most of us are used to? Do you prefer to apply it by hand or with a buffer?
