So grout sponges are the latest craze it seems like on Autopia (http://www.autopia.org). They are supposedly softer than MF mitts and have a less risk for scratching/marring the clear coat. I bought two the other night and have been waiting to test them out. I am very anal about keeping a clean car, so I'm always willing to try out a new product.
You can get them at Lowe's. Reviews about them can be read here (http://autopia.org/forum/detailing-product-discussion/103288-onring-lowes-proline-grout-sponge.html) and here (http://autopia.org/forum/car-detailing/101657-better-grout-sponge.html?highlight=grout+sponge).

Alright, I washed the car today to test out the grout sponge, and I must say I love it. Initially, it felt really weird using a sponge because I've been using a MF mitt for so long.
The sponge didn't feel as smooth going over the paint as a MF mitt does, but I got used to it. I use ONR to wash the car (if you don't know what it is, check out Autopia (http://www.autopia.org) and do a search for it. Probably the one of the best/easiest/coolest car washing products ever!)
Anyways, the grout sponge absorbs so much water, unlike a MF mitt. Every time I squeezed the sponge water just gushed out of it. The pros over at Autopia were raving about swirl-free paint using the grout sponge and I am a believer. It's hard to find a good mitt/sponge to use on our cars because they have an extremely soft clear coat. I looked over the car when I got done (in direct sunlight) and didn't see any swirls in the paint. So the grout sponge was a success, especially for the $1.87 it cost
