Who is planning on going? I am gonna get BamaGZ registered as one of the car clubs this year and also plan on going ahead and reserving a cabin soon.

The website should be up sometime this weekend from what I hear. I sent a PM to one of the guys that runs Zdayz with a few questions that may be of some interest to you guys..




I saw last year that you guys had some club sponsors and I'm interested to to see what all is involved. I run BamaGZ (Alabama G & Z Club) and would like to get our club in the upcoming Zdayz.
We are still looking at options on to approach the clubs for next year. What is currently on the table:
Option 1, 1 volunteer to help judge the car show plus cover the manpower for 1 event, i.e. The prize rally stops, or the TSD check points, manning the doors at meals to verfiy only registered people are eating, etc... Optional cash donation as well. For that the club will recieve special recognition, a plaque, and a few other perks

Option 2, Two volunteers, one to help judge the car show and one as general purpose volunteer, plus $100 cash donation. There may or may not be a plaque for this level of sponsorship.

Option 3, No volunteers, only a cash donation of $200. There may or may not be a plaque for this level of sponsorship.

Regardless of level of sponsorship, all sponsors will be able to add thier events to our calendar on our website. This is a new feature that will hopefully help tie the southeast region closer together and get more attendance at everyone's event.


Is Fontana Village still offering discount prices for booking a cabin early for Zdayz attendees?
I think so, I know that they are ouot of three bedroom cabins now, so it is filling up quickly

Not sure at this time, we are really pushing for everything to be pre-registered, and there may not be a reward for pre-registration but a penalty for not. This may or may not include certain events like the car show will be pre-registration only. We are currently still working on the business side of things, the economy has really threw a monkey wrench into our old business model. We will know more after this weekend and the coming week, as merchant sponsors start coming on board.

I just realized today that Zdayz is the same time as the only N.A.S.A. HPDE event Barber. Now I am torn, part of me wants to go to the dragon and see all my friends. But the other part would rather play on the track and not worry about being harassed by the cops like at the dragon.

If it makes you feel any better, last year at the dragon I was only told to slow down one time. Nobody I know got a ticket on the actual dragon, only a few people on the skyway that were doing like 70mph+ got tickets.

I have some friends in the Mini club that were up there late in 2008 that got harassed to hell and back. Mini's with the Rally light package were ticketed for having in excess of 4 lights on the front of your car....apparently 4 is the limit and anything over is illegal. Just weighing my options as to what would be more fun, not to mention a weekend at Barber would be a hell of a lot cheaper

I am sure that Bryan would be on board with us supporting ZdayZ. Since we missed the cutoff date we probably wouldnt be able to be recognized on the Tshirts and stuff, but I am ok with that.

Buddy is right, we need to do this. I am going to be there and will support however I can. If you want I will be happy to talk with Bryan about adding us IF people really will showup and help out.

Yeah, the registration letter said this year you still have to register for the event even if you're sponsored. I don't think the meals are optional this time either. I will prob register within the next few days.

You posted 3 irrelevant posts after this one that most likely distracted attention away from the important question.

The Zdayz staff is NOT offering any discounts this year for sponsors unfortunately. Camping would be pretty cheap, my cabin right now has 5 (potentially 6) inhabitants so I don't believe there will be room on the floor to crash. I will let you know if things change. Try going to www.fontanavillage.com and see if they have any rooms available or you could check out www.my350z.com and see if anyone is selling their room (what I did last year). Registration is so that the organizers can afford to host this event. It gets you dinner, t-shirt, enters you into raffles, and allows you to enter the car show. Plenty of people that have tagged along with me have never registered though and you can grab food at the grill if you want to do it cheap. From what I've heard there are a few rooms left in the Lodge but you will want to grab up a spot quick.

David, I don't know if you can handle staying with me and Drew. :D

Yeah, Alex and I stayed at the Lodge last year and the only complaint was the lack of a refrigerator for the beer :D Should be pretty nice!

Basically just give people cards with their times on them and write em down. Cool with you guys?

I'll probably be down for this. I might try to do the trials instead of the show though but I'll let you know once we get there. I'm willing to put in my part of the work wherever it's needed.

I have a question about BamaZG club’s volunteer work at ZdayZ. I noticed that you, Buddy, and Traland all have you car in the car show. Would you consider working the TSD route? It is a concurrent event with the car show and it doesn’t require you to leave Fontana Village, in fact you be in front of the rec hall.

Basically you will be located at the stop sign in front of the rec hall, with a clock, a stack of time cards, and random route directions. As people arrive, you will hand them a set of route directions, mark their departure time on their time card, mark their route on their time card, and send them off (30 to 60 seconds or so between cars).

When people return, you will record their return time on their time card, and in excel or whatever record their total trip time.

I figure this will be the best for y'all since everyone's car is in the show :)

Actually you can still rgister full on site. Tshirts will be limited to first come fisrst serve. Car sow registration will be allowed thursday and friday on site, for $20 instead of the $10 online registration
