Feel free to comment ;)
The Beginning:
Engine: 560cc injectors, 2g maf, evo16g GT (Jap knockoff shit), SAFC, Blitz bov.....up front  , yadda yadda yadda
The previous owner lied to me about alot of things and I was pretty young and naive so I bought into it. Needless to say I've had to change alot haha
Started to amass my parts as the turbo started hitting the dirt. I met some people through local forums and became friends with Lenny, my mechanic.
His backyard: white 2.4L automatic (it's NASTY), then his
SBR G60 (60 trim) -- It kinda sucks to be honest :(
There's alot more coming...
My SBR purchase: Injectors, turbo, clutchs, WG, etc etc
Saw this WAAAAY too many times (in the early days):
Installed the FMIC and all the SBR parts etc. and shined her up.... the glamor shot
Motor starts to run like shit and I'm seeing signs of blow by... then the inevitable happened:
Ran like:
<embed width="430" height="389" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://vid67.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Byrdman712/Progress/100_0941.flv"></embed>
The rebuild!
2.4L block with 4g63 head
BC 280 intake and exhaust cams
FIC 1600 injectors
Scat Rods
Wiseco Pistons (ceramic coated)
Ported and polished head
Cometic HG
etc etc
Complete!
FP Race Manifold and some other goodies already installed:
Now onto the other projects

Interior:
JNZ Short Shifter with Razo Ball
I'll be editing this post when as I progress :headbang:
Suspension and Handling:
Before:
Ksports
RM front and rear sways
Finished product:
Fuel and Tuning Setup:
FFWD's High Flow kit (not installed)
Runs like:
<embed width="430" height="389" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://vid67.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Byrdman712/Progress/100_1045.flv"></embed>

There's still alot to do:
HG might be on the way out
Reinstall my Sheet metal intake manifold (what cracked)
Recirculate my BOV - Done
Wheels + brakes
Interior (carpeting, seats + harnesses, steering wheel, trunk area)
Exterior: '92 headlights, hood and front bumper, repaint
The list goes on and on.... Thanks for looking :)
Couple teasers...
Thanks for the interest though - wheels, brakes, and SMIM are next
Couple pics of the rims and tires mounted.
245/45/17 Fuzion ZRI's (Thanks swine). They give the car a brass balls look I think. I have a set of black lug nuts on the way. The handling has really improved and I had to raise my car over an inch and a half.... Overall the look grew on me and I actually like it. At first I was a little skeptical.
I'm going to lower it a couple mm in the front to give it a more raked look. Two weeks = Wilwood Big Brakes.
The exterior is really starting to show its saggy tits  I just noticed all the pics are from the drivers side..... ah well
So, a few of you were at the track the night the 2.4L gave up the ghost, well I found myself flying to Va to steal a beater and drive 12hrs back in a weekend and being hired at Loredoes Mexican Restaurant.... SWEET :wiggiesmo First day was today = Only gringo that can't speak spanish fluently
Long story short, here's what it sounded like:
Click (http://liquidsolace.com/misc/ByrdEngineOuch.mpg)
Brent was kind enough to tow her to the mechanics. I finally got some time this weekend to disassemble.
It ended up being a spun bearing. Here's some pics:
The burnt crank:
Ze 2.4L block I got to strip down:
4rth cylinder and bearing:
Overall, I need to clean everything up. There were shavings embeded and sprinkled everywhere  .
Will keep updated.
Finally made some progress the past couple days. Today was actually worth taking some crappy pics so here she goes.
Last night completed the head install and got the block prepped for installation since the fucks didn't include standard thrust bearings with my mains
Today started with a fresh block, prepped crank, installed bearings, rods with pistons, oil squirters, HG, ARP's, Oil pan, timing assembly, covers, turbo setup, exhaust manifold, thermostat, and other misc shizzle.
Mini Update
Powdercoated VC, Wrinkle Blackness
Engine Bay as of now.
Put the SMIM, Catch Can, and some other goodies in there. Not really a fan of the BOV setup though.
Redid the Exhaust setup. Coming out the back now through a Magnaflow. Sounds amazing in person.

Nice, it looks like a lot of hard work has been put into the car.

Good luck with the project. I've been the dsm route before. I even swapped a 91tsi drivetrain/wiring harness into a 93 gs 1.8 car. Took 20hrs total and then sold it to a friend. I've owned 4 turbo dsm's in the past.

What made you get out? This car definitely lives up to the unreliable stereotype but I can't stop putting money into it, it's like a drug. But oh well, I'll be keeping this one till she burns to the ground 'cause i wouldn't get 1/3 the $ I've put into it. :o.

Probs for the cleanest 1st gen eclipse thus far.. not a big fan of the 2nd set of wheels tho...too...emm south of the border ( offset wise ).. the 1st set looks much better, but to each it's own. probs again for a well done car. C

Haha that's a different way of saying it.
I get it a lot though. The thing with the wheels is, they are from Team Dynamics (straight outta Brittain) and come in a custom offset which a few select people have. The combination leaves room for the BBK, extremely light weight, while giving the best possible handling for the 1st generation Eclipse. Greg Collier (probably the most famous DSM race car) has them, Ludacris (founder of DSMtuners) has them, and probably two others have them. Granted they could use some fender flares, but I kinda of got used to the beefcake look.
Here's a little update.

Nice 1G!
Reads a lot like my DSM journal, though mine has about 10 more posts and 30 more pictures. ;)
They are addicting, as for unreliable, what can you expect for a car that's 9-18 years old that makes twice or more the stock power, and takes to mods so easily. :)
Good choice on the DSMLink.

Cool thread! I learned one good thing from it, never buy a DSM.
That's a ton of work and a complete transformation dude...nice job.

Thanks mang! I'm a believer in DSMLink. I've had the SAFC, Osterich, and seen others and they just don't compare. I just need to get a reliable tune at 20-25psi.
You're not the guy on DSMtuners/DSMTalk with the sn BlinkerFluid are you? I've seen your posts and buildup and you aren't lying. I'm Byrd on tuners and Sleeper7 on talk.
Next plans are: Premium Build from jackstransmissions.com
The 1g is doing a really good job of grinding the hell out of third and 4rth gear, it makes me cringe.

Guilty! :D
I started back in the day with a S-AFC and front O2 sensor voltage, how the times have changed. That car should be pretty stout at 25psi.
Now you've told all the G and Z owners why I affectionately call the DSM transmission a transmixer. Good for mixing gear parts with oil, especially at high HP levels. :)

Interesting, it all seems to be adding up now. The wheels, working at a Mexican restaurant, all the Spanish words he incorporates into our conversations..

This is my update:
But no really the car has sat for a little bit since I've had to divot my attention to other priorities. I plan to take it up another level though here in the not too distant future now that things are starting to straighten out. I put some race gas in it and burned out all the other fuel and it's a night and day difference how the car acts --- I can't wait to get her going again.
Plans:
Redo battery setup -- relocated to trunk (it's an odyssey lightweight battery located under the dash and really doesn't provide the cold cranking power I need)
Racing seats - Going either with the Corbeau's or a set of Aluminum Kirkeys
Meth Injection
Add a Bosch inline pump
FP3065 setup and supporting mods (40mm Wastegate, oil lines/filters, o2 housing, wastegate dumps ---all vband setup $$$)
And last but not least..... a TUNE. All this car needs is a nice tune but my care factor on figuring out how to tune it to a "T" is zero so I'll be taking it somewhere.
Honestly, with this setup I should be able to hit low 11's no problem. It's been my goal for this car since day one and obviously there's been some issues that have gotten in the way. I MIGHT also throw a smaller turbo setup on it and make it into a AutoX/Fontana dragon slayer....I'll make that decision when I get there.
Thanks for the interest though! I'll keep this thread in mind when I do start to work on her.
Edit: I have however gotten some new doors since the paint chipped and looked faggety, all black carpeting, redid interior gauges and computer setup. I'll post pics next time
