My wife told me the other day that she likes how G37 coups look and she kind of gave me a thumbs up as our next car (within a year or so).

Wanted to see what you guys thought about the G37s and such..

Thanks in advance for your input.

I have one and so does my boyfriend Brian (blackjack on here and he might chime in). I like my G37 coupe ok. I kind of wish I had gotten something else. So for me, the car is just kind of meh. Mine is nothing special. I didn't get the S because I needed a car that I could rotate the tires for longer life. I drive 20K miles a year and needed something to last a long time. I have a chick stick (automatic) since I drive on 280 daily and my BF has a 6MT. I mean don't get me wrong, they are good cars but this is my 2nd Infiniti and will likely be my last.

I'm on my second G37S. I really like them. I sold my G35 in 2007 right as the 2008 G37 was being introduced. After 1 test drive, I had to have it. The G37 gives you a bit more luxury and refinement over the past G35s. The interior is amazing! Performance is on par with others in the market (I can't complain), and you really can't beat the prices of an Infiniti as you probably know.

In early 2009, my G37S was involved in an accident and totalled. I had a lady pull in front of me and in an effort to avoid hitting her, I jumped a curb and went head on into a tree at about 45 MPH. I walked away with a scratch. The car did it's job and protected me quite well.

In Feb 2009, I purchased my second G37S and have no regrets. While I could have take the opporunity to get into a 335i, 370z, or something comprable, I stayed with Infiniti and love the car still to the day. Check out my intro thread for pics!

I have never had my G37 at the dealership for service. (25k on my 2008, and 12k on my 2009).

Would I buy again? I will likely not upgrade to the next G generation, but that's not because I don't like the car. I will just be ready for something better (maybe a GT-R, Porsche, etc.) If I would be looking at something in the price range of the G, it would surely be at the top of my list to look at.

Thanks for the info..

Rosey, I hear you on the 280 traffic! I just moved and I have to go from Lowes area to UAB and I'm hating the drive!! I would love to get a 6MT but this will be my daily and not sure if I want to shift all the time for 35-45 mins one way to go 12 miles. I'll most likely get an auto.

BlackJack, thanks for the info! I been wanting a GTR but currently out of my price range. My wife told me I could get one when they drop to mid 40s.. But that might be few more years..

Haha welcome to 280! I love the 37s. Would consider one for myself as a daily!

It would be a great daily. Very comfy, great luxury but still some umph to get you around with ease. If I wanted a sports car I would look elsewhere due to the weight and size, but if I wanted a nice daily that I could still have fun in on occasion and didn't put me to sleep, the G37S would be right up my alley! And I absolutely love how they look.

Now, if price between the 335i and the G37S were the same, and maintenance wans't an issue, I'd chose the 335i hands down. :) But that simply wouldn't be the case, my Z hasn't given me even one tiny gripe yet, and I'm sure the G37 would be just the same.

^^That's great to hear. I am definitely going to use the G37 or something else as a daily. Since I've never owned a Nissan in my life, this would be my first one... if I get it.

I'm also liking this community and wanting to be part of it and heard only positive things. I guess hopefully soon, I'll start looking for one more seriously (we are currently trying to settle into our new place and get the old place sold).

LOL! Yes, thanks for the welcome... and I am enjoying the nerve wrecking 280 drive.

Today, I saw this lady, eating, on a cell phone, weaving in and out of the lane on 280... and that weaving wasn't done on purpose.. I see crazy sh*t on 280 daily!!!

Never had an Infiniti.

But I love the z/g community. Nissan is ftw.
Been nothing but positive since I bought my z in late 09. Met a lot of cool people right from this board.

Out of curiosity, what are the stock offsets?

For both the 370Z and the G37 the front offsets are like +43 or something.. it's because the car is designed with a wider wheel base (hubs).

so they changed the offset to make the car longer?

I said wider not longer.

ERM, they changed the offset to widen the relative rotation points of the front wheels. In other words, the hubs sit further away from the center of the car.

Thing is, I don't know the how to calculate the mass and inertia to understand how that makes much of a difference when the tire's contact point is "probably" the same distance from the center of the car than the previous model....

I say probably because I dont actually know where the tires sit in relation to the center of the vehicle. (before & After)

I was doing some searching and found G37's have following wheel spec

19x8.5 +43 Front
19x9 +45 Rear

What is G35 spec?

Actually, this is what I found... The most aggressive..

19" 5 split spoke (2005+ Coupe optional)
Front: 19"x8" +30mm offset
Rear: 19"x8.5" +33mm offset

compare to the one above front retracts 7mm, rear 6mm

Since the body is different, do you think G37s will have more room?? My guess is no but I thought I ask.
