Host them somewhere (Flickr, Photobucket, Facebook, etc) and use [IMG] tags and the .jpg file instead of adding attachments. If you'll upload them to one of those sites and shoot me a link to the album I can do it for you if that doesn't make sense.

Hey, This Ahmed.... I stopped by the other day when you were installing the fuel system...

Need to know how to post more pictures. I have a bunch it just wont let me. Its only letting me post 39.1KB.

The easiest way to post more pictures is to upload the picture elsewhere like Imageshack, facebook or any hosting site. You will then have a URL link for that picture that you can direct link to. Then, all you have to do is copy the URL link to that picture and put it in [/code]

It's not sleeved. Once you go to a 4.2L then they get sleeved. I don't want to mess around with sleeves.

Thats good then, whats your power goals? I just assumed it was since you have 20Gs,a 4.0l and a twin pump which should easily make 800rwhp (stock sleeves only ~700rwhp)

wbama387
03-02-2011, 10:43 AM
I am actually going to sell the 20g kit but I'm shooting for 650. I believe the stock sleeves can hold a lot more than that. XKR's car has the same 4.0L build and he is making 1000hp.

Didn't realize he was on stock sleeves, doesn't GTM use those reinforcing plates around the sleeves? But either way it looks like that 700rwhp # people have always thrown around was about as accurate as the 400ft-lb stock rods break at:rolleyes:

I never looked into it much since my kit isn't even capable of 700rwhp, but what kit are you going to? GTM? 650rwhp on pump or race?

wbama387
03-02-2011, 11:53 AM
I think I am going to go with the gtm kit. I didn't from the beginning because I have heard about problems with it. I'm hoping for 650 on pump gas and more on race fuel.

 I think the GTM kit is the best off the self kit still available, what size turbos? GT30s?

wbama387
03-02-2011, 12:01 PM
I have not decided on turbos yet I still need to talk to sam about what exactly my power goals are. It would really be nice to have 1000hp but I don't want a bunch of turbo lag. So I just need to decide on what my max hp goal is.

Mostly to just have a high hp DD.

rh_334
03-02-2011, 12:24 PM
Mostly to just have a high hp DD.

With your extra displacement and relatively low power goal i wouldn't go any higher than GT30s. 28's would normally make the power your looking for and be responsive but with the extra displacement they may run out of breathe. GT30s + meth and you could easily make 700rwhp on pump, and probably nearly 900 on race.

Honstly, even though i don't like those turbos, they are VERY capable turbos its just no one has pushed them to see what they can make yet. But if i were in your shoes i would probably just stick with the 20Gs, unless you just want the GTM for less lag. Which quick spool is great, i have one of (if not the quickest) spooling kits available, but you have to keep in mind with instant TQ all your doing is spinning. So both have pros and cons just like anything. I believe the highest the 20Gs have seen so far is 712rwhp on pump w/ a bad boost leak, that guy is retuning right now.

GTM w/ GT30s
Quicker Spool
More HP
IMO Better overall kit
Better turbos
5x cost to rebuild turbos
and in your case have to find a buyer for the Greddy in a down economy

Greddy 20Gs
Laggier
Better traction
Capable of meeting/exceeding your power goals
$300 turbo rebuilds
Easier to install
Save $
and you could be the first to really push these turbos on race.

Maybe the same reason Alex sold his GT-R and went back to a Z. The raw power feeling of a boosted/built G or Z is incredible (as you should have a taste of)

Uhh, I don't see how he's spent nearly enough money to get anywhere close to what a GTR costs..

And that being said, anything over 600 whp in a GTR costs A TON of money to obtain. Stock they are quick, but not 750+ whp Z/G quick..

Exactly what AadosX said. I havnt spent anywhere near what a gtr cost. When i bought this car i spent all my money just buying it and never planned on doing this. One mod just led to another and another. If i had gotten the GTR i would have wanted to do the same thing and would never have enough money to do that.

id be willing to bet, the amount of money in this car by the time its making 650rwhp+ + the price of the car could easily buy a used GTR.People don't realize how expensive this sh*t is, and he has top of the line everything..

:+1: on what Adrian said, most shops will tell you Cosworth, but they do have leaking issues. The guys that run them RTV the end caps to prevent leaks but most of them hardly ever drive their cars, so i wouldn't trust it to hold up. I have the Kinetix and i love it, looks great and performs great. We didn't do a dyno comparison but we put my car back on the stock plenum and street tuned it and it felt like ass :puke: compared to the Kinetix. The stock plenum was so restrictive that on the same boost setting my peak boost when from 8.5psi to 10.2psi and felt slower:shame:

Momentum Performance is in the beginning stages of releasing their turbo kit, and out of the box the Z1 car (with kinetix) was the only car to make as much TQ as HP. I really want to do some back to back comparisons tuned, but on stock block every tuning session is risky so thats why i have yet to do so.

In the end, either one will make more power than stock, i did find in my testing that a spacer helped the power alot, but not to the kinetix's performance. Hal has had good luck with the Cosworth, i think he had something like a 40rwhp gain. But Cosworth prices just recently went back up to ~1500 unpolished, and with that being nearly twice as much as the kinetix i couldn't justify it.

It will, but last time i check that fan shroud/fan combo was ~$750

and 82mm is for high HP trackcars, hence no AC:cool:

Here is what John was telling you about Sat.This is what i will be doing, and hopefully during which Z1 will come up with a drop in package of parts to do this.

I also removed all the oil cooler/warmer lines and install my version of the HR setup.

I did the HR setup because i wanted to utilize wasted space in the middle of the motor. It would also be easier to work on the passenger side, manifold, turbo etc if i had to without removing any coolant lines.

here's a 5 year old draw up of what i had planned :icon17:

you need to cut the HR rear pipe in half ,bolt on the two halves on the block and reweld it since it is wider. Also, the pipe that goes down the middle, the end piece needs to be cut off and a 1 1/2 in straight pipe needs to be welded to go through the hole.

I also sanded the rough casting of the engine block hole to be smooth so it doesn't make a hole in the coolant pipe.

wbama387
03-29-2011, 12:19 PM
I have the hr mod done to my block i am just not using the coolant line under the plenum. I am just using our return line that runs on the passenger side. I thought that there was an extra thermostat on the front of the block for the mod that i might need but it is actually just a filler neck.

OS Triple or Quad? For your goals i dont think you need more than a Triple but Sam has been pushing those Quads lately. Next time you talk to him ask him why hes not pushing his GTM spec Exedy carbon Triple, im really interested in his opinion on that.

So what else are you waiting on?

Let get the list out:
gasket set
pistons
rings
heads
bearings
turbo kit
cosworth plenum
oil pan spacer
washer fluid reservoir
coolant reservoir
meth injection
ati damper
MAF housing
O2 sensor cable
I believe thats it but i could be missing a few things. Once he gets it all to me it will only take me a weekend to get the engine back together and then depending on school it may take me a couple of weeks to get everything else back together.

I was worried about the lag also but according to sam with the 4.0L lag will be same as the 20g with the 3.5L if not better. Cam specs are
272 degrees @ .012”
232 degrees @.050”
11.00mm Valve lift intake and exhaust

I have always had a true 3" exhaust.

Exactly, 20G w/3.5 is laggy lol

those cams don't seem aggressive enough... are those the most aggressive GTM cams? Ive always wondered why they stagger them so much, has Sam ever explained to you why?

I talked to sam and those are the cams he says to go with. The next set they have are
288 degrees @ .012”
245 degrees @ .050”
11.50mm Valve lift intake and exhaust

He never explained why. I thought my exhaust was 3" but you are right it is 2.75" so i guess im just going to stick with that.

maybe he just makes more $$$ off GTM cams? XKR was running C8s which are 272/272 12mm lift

You really should look into a true 3" exhaust.. I think GTM makes one, i don't think they make for for a G but im sure they would modify it for you ;) At 1000rwhp flow will make a huge difference. It doesn't make sense to me for you to spend all that to go +1mm valves and a small exhaust.

So i pressed on the bearings for the diff at work and checked the gauge cluster to see if it worked. I am going to try and see if i can mold a lens cover for the gauge cluster some how and then it will be done. I am still waiting on all of those parts from sam. I think by the time this thing is done it will be a year long project and thats not having a shop do it so i cant imagine how long it would have taken them to so it.

So i stopped being lazy this weekend and got the 05-07 gauge cluster working in my 03 and molded my gauges into my shift bezel. The tape on the cluster is just to hold it into place and i will mount it later. Also i still need to paint the shifter bezel. I will probably do all that this weekend.

Everything OS Giken does is perfection in my opinion. I'd hang tight though until you get everything built, tuned, and the way you want it. Changing up the transmission later would be easy compared to everything else you're still doing.

But check this out.
