Took this off My350Z...
The 787 is a new mid size widebody jet by boeing. The new 787 is a revolution in aircraft design. Below are some of it's features.
It's the first all composite airliner. It's entire structure and skin is made of carbon fiber. The plane will be able to withstand higher pressurization for a more comfortable cabin. It will be significantly lighter than an aluminum structure allowing lower fuel burns. Airframe life will be significantly higher than current aluminum airframes due to little to no fatigue in composites. Air will be filtered and recirculated in the cabin for better air quality and higher humidity. Cabin pressurization will be supplied from electric pumps instead of engine bleed air.
New windows are 50% larger. You no longer have pull down shades as the new windows are LCD and operate elictrically with the press of a button. They will be infinetly adjustable between fully transparent, and fully blacked out.
The cabin will have an updated look and feel. I hope the seats are more comfortable!
The cockpit will be state of the art with full EFIS LCD displays and HUD's.
The new GEnx engines will be up to 20% more efficient than those in use today. They bleed no air allowing much improved performance. All deicing and pressurization will be by electrical means.
