View Full Version : Effort to achieve flushness

After a lot of looking I decided on the Vossen VVS-CV1. I know the bolt pattern is 5x4.5/114.3, I think I am gonna go with 185 55 20 tires with my drop, but as far as offset I have a choice of 20 or 38 in the front and 15 or 25 in the back. I understand tires, but never really messed with an offset, and help would make this easier.

Lower Offset is always going to bring you closer to flush. +20 and +15 would be pretty good offsets and you would need a small spacer to sit fully flush but that setup would be good

Also, that tire choice doesn't seem to be a good idea. a 185 is way too small and the 55 is going to be too big of a sidewall if you want these to look good flush. Just my .02

I really want to help but don't know what offsets fit the sedan the best. What widths do the wheels come in?

That tire size sounds really far off, especially for a 20" wheel.

Post up diameter and widths available on that set and we'll make it fit!

235 40 is what I meant to put down, no clue where I got the other numbers

I think the 9" +20 will be perfect, but the 10.5 +15 is going to be too much for a sedan. Would fit perfect on a coupe.

The fad lately is to stretch tires and poke the wheel as far out as possible...but it's not practical at all, and doesn't look good without a nice drop. If it was me purchasing, I'd try to find those offsets on your model sedan to make sure it's the look you are going for.

Thanks...... one more question. When I dropped my car, it made it so my back wheels sit at an angle. Is there an easy fix for this? I don't want the inside of my wheels to constantly be wearing more then the rest

When you dropped it, it changed your camber and toe. Camber is what makes it sit at the angle, and toe is more "forward and back" in the wheel well. They go hand-in-hand, when you adjust camber more positive your toe will also change. The most inexpensive way to fix this is to get a camber arm with toe bolts. The arm is adjustable to fix the negative camber you have now, and the bolts will work to adjust the toe back to normal. The bolts work by dremeling an oblong hole where the stock camber arm attaches to the subframe...basically just widening the hole so the bolt has room to move. The SPC arms are the most popular and what I have.

You may have some adjustment within the stock suspension that could be fixed with an alignment. Otherwise, you'll want to purchase some arms to correct it or purchase tires accordingly. :D

SPC and SPL Parts are different companies. Your best bet would be to study up on SPLParts.com under their "product info" section or give them a call for advice. They sell a camber arm but their designs don't utilize a toe bolt like what I was describing in the SPC part. Instead they may recommend another solution for getting the toe back into spec. I'm not very familiar with your year model or the sedan honestly but glad to help. In my opinion the SPL parts are superior in design and quality than the SPC parts, but the SPC solution is cheaper for the 03-06 models.

A fair amount of people think Kenetix has the best camber arms both front and rear on the market, and they are very reasonably priced
You can get a set from Z1 motorsports

My front end seem to be sitting flush with the ground, its the rear tires that are having the problems with the inner wear. Even if I don't see a problem, do you think I will in the future?

I'll order a set of camber arm tonight

Your tires will wear faster and you will have less traction, especially in the rain, if you don't fix the issue.

Your best bet is to contact SPL Parts and see what they recommend.

Thanks, I e-mailed them and they e-mailed me back within 30 minutes. Ordered what I needed, and you were right the price wasn't bad.

Awesome... what did you end up ordering? Their prices are a little higher than Megan Racing, SPC, and a few other companies that make the same products... but the quality is on a different level.

For example, they have a version 5 outer tie rod end for the 240sx, which means they were not completely satisfied with the first 4. And they offer an upgrade path from any previous version to the updated product. They have done this with every suspension component they make. Serious R&D going into those products and it shows.

SPL rear camber links and the SPC toe bolts is what they recomended. I can't complain about the price, $300 is nothing when your looking at $2k on wheels

I asked about the front end, he said that it will cause a negative camber, but it won't be nearly as drastic as the rear. He said he would recomend getting a kit for the front, but most don't. I went home and looked at the front and didn't notice uneven wear, so I didn't get them.

Now I need to find a good price on tires to replace the effed up rears, sucks when I know I'll be putting new wheels/tires on again within a month. Gotta be done though, I have metal showing on the far inside. Need to find a used tire place in P'Cola

There's a used tire place in Ft walton that sometimes has a selection of stuff. I've picked up a few tires there before for cheeeeeap, that all had decent tread left.

One of my tires popped late Sat. night when I was riding home, so I don't think the donut would have made it that far. Ft Walton would have been a little bit of a trip. I got some tires at some local family owned place. The owner said he would buy them back from me when my wheels came in. I got the "house brand" so it wasn't a horrible price. Thanks though.

My camber arms and toe bots come in on Thursday, I hope the wheels and tires show soon

Wheels are in, and on. Thanks for the help everyone. Pic looks a little funny because the A/C in the house is so cold, and it's hot as hell outside. Think there is some condo in the camera
