first off some may have seen the pic of my 92 on the hill overlooking the city. I sold that car because i wanted a black one to make PERFECT and i got it. alot of mechanical issues have been addressed before i got the car and the other things done were things i would have done myself any way but it did need a new paint job.
So this is my project thread and I will keep it updated until i get it finished and every one gets to see the final product. I will say i have two good friends that are helping me that have been in the paint and body business for years and they both do excellent work. one has already helped me with a BMW i did a few years ago so i know hes good at what he does.
this is how i bought the car:
this is three days later when i started on the rear quater, doing prep work is the most time consuming
now we are a few weeks later and the doors are off and the stoneguard is being stripped and the body work is moving along. hopefully i will be taking it to the shop to get it primed in a week and i will take pics when i do

so up to what point exactly did you do all that work yourself? like you bondoed and sanded and primered it all yourself looks like to me. so then how much did they paint shop do? they just did the base and clear right? how much did they charge for that? how much cheaper is that compared to having them do everything?

i have no problem explaining this.....i have a real couple of real good friends that helped me with the body work. knowing the car was going black, i knew i never stod a chance of it looking right if i did it myself. one of them helped me do some of the bondo and shaving the antenna and rear wiper, the he got busy with two new careers and school, so i turned to another friend to finish. We discused doing a little horse trading for the rest of the prep work and primer and then i went to his house and built him a new deck and covered it so he would paint and finish the car but i had to do all the reassemble myself. So to answer your question, i cant begin to imagine what it would cost to disassemble, remove all glass, shave antenna and rear wiper, smooth out the stoneguard, paint and reassemble. i would guess around 5k but i just dont know.
on a side note, this is the second time i built a deck for a paint job so that seems to be a great bartering tool...........any one need a deck????:partydance:[
