Hello All,
I'm located in Morgan County, AL and on my 4th Z. My 1st was a brand new 1972 240Z. I found this site in a link off My350Z.com. I belong to the Twickenham Auto Club and the Tennessee Valley, Tennessee and Alabama Regions of the SCCA. Yeh, three regions is a bit much but there are advantages to be involved with all of them.
My main interests with the Z are general driving fun and autocrossing. After I got my 2003 350Z I terrorized the hills of Morgan County because I could not find an outlet for my urge to use the car to the fullest. I tried get togethers and looking at other Zs and Gs but then I discovered autocross.
My son Josh and I started out getting our butts handed to us for a year at least in local competition but slowly we learned. From Huntsville we started running in Birmingham and Nashville for more seat time which is how you improve. Once we got a bit wiser, we graduated to R-Compound tires, started running SE Divisional events and tried out a National Tour. Not surprisingly I became hooked. I've averaged 30-35 events in the last 3 years.
My present car is a 2008 Enthusiast, San Marino Blue which I really like. I compete in B Stock so the car has only one significant change, Konis Sports which are a single adjustable shock. That and a trailer hitch since I tow a set of Kumho R-Compound tires if I'm serious that weekend. Otherwise, street tires are good fun and little fuss.
I've been moderately successful in the Southeast. I've won a number of Regional championships and the Southeast Division B Stock Championship in 2005 and 2007. I won a Tour in 2006, placed a 3rd in 2007 and came in 2nd in the Tour this year in Cecil, GA.
All said though, I'm about mid pack Nationally. I placed 20th/36 in 2006 and 27th/42 in 2007 at the Solo Nationals in Topeka, KS. so I still have a long way to go but a short time to get there.
If we meet at an event please introduce yourself. There are a few Z's competing in the area but there is room for a lot more in B Stock. I also enjoy comparing times with BSP at the end of the day. :D
